Socks, porridge and fireplace

This weekend, a newly bought book on crafts inspired me to finish a pair of pink/brown socks started a while ago. The chilly nights up north seemed perfect for the task and reminded me that Autumn is slowly arriving, despite the hot temperatures during the day.

The fireplace was an unexpected detail to an unusually cold night, it felt strange to spend the day at the beach and the night by the fire! Anyway, we decided to eat in, so I cooked us some porridge with pears and we ate watching a movie.

An invitation for tea and marshmallows!

A well-set table laden with delicious plastic food (apart from real marshmallows),

a very elegant host,

many other guests,

an exquisite hand-painted tea set,

(some real size tea cups for 'human-sized' guests),

(a shoe free place)

and the company of a furry guest (Toffee) that never fails to attend any of these events!

A lovely afternoon.

Back to (my present) reality...

Coming back home after summer holidays is (mostly) good... even when there is so much reorganizing to do, preparing for a new year ahead.

Mia was a great help (as shown bellow) just lying around in the floor because its so so so hot...

Reorganizing meant (amongst many other things) folding again some old linen cloths, towels and napkins to free some space in the drawers (linen made in the old days is so wonderfully thick and rough).

Found a tiny crochet piece I had kept to myself years ago, used by my grandmother to cover the water jug. Love it.

Resumed my walks in this city and found new interesting spots as well as some more beautiful buildings (and their secret gardens).

An Orthodox Church tucked away in a narrow street.

The smell of freshly baked bread lead me to an old bakery and I had to buy a loaf to bring home for tea!

And last, but not least, some window shopping!

Its good to be back :-)

Breakfast on a hot day

Sooooo hot today... this was breakfast: freshly squeezed orange juice, toasts and watermelon ( my favorite)!

Beetroot + orange juice and a walk on the quay

This morning I made beetroot and orange juice, to use up some of the beetroots laying around here. It was delicious. Two oranges for every medium sized beetroot. Yummy. Unusual. Earthy. Fresh. Frothy.

Foggy mornings reminded me of earlier summers in this place. Its a classic. I searched the drawers and found some old games we used to play and we had a go at it, just for old times sake.

In the evening we went for a long walk along the boardwalk and ended up on the quay, to watch a pink(ish) sunset on the sea.

To round up such a nice-quiet-day we played some more games followed by an improvised veggie pasta with red wine. Great day today.

The good life

Long naps, long walks on the beach picking up pebbles, reading a good book, eating fresh fruit, savoring coffee (J does it every morning, not me... blherrghg!), slow cooking in the evenings, and crocheting while watching a movie on TV. The good life. Why complicate?
