How different to buy your greens and fruit from local markets. I didn't plan to go, I was passing by and decided to have a look inside. The 'Mercado de Alvalade' is well stocked with portuguese produce, good prices and nice sellers. My apple crumble was better than ever (nothing left now, only a few crumbles) - surely thanks to the organic apples I got there!

Treat of the day: a relaxed late breakfast
A lazy Sunday morning after a really busy week deserves breakfast in bed and lots os magazines to browse through. We had fresh raspberries with plain soy yogurt and rye bread, lightly toasted, with olive oil butter or peanut butter spread. Yummy.

Handmade - wrist warmers / sleeves
This is a new project I've been meaning to try for a while: I call them 'sleeves', because they are longer than the usual wrist warmers. I'm still struggling with the right size for a ridiculously thin wrist like mine :-) but i'll get there!

Walking down Avenida da Liberdade
Missed this mild weather to resume my much needed walks around the city. I love to walk. And I really enjoy noticing the details in things and places - both old and new. So now, whenever I have time, I'll walk somewhere and take my camera with me :-) This time I had company and we walked downtown, to the river. Isn't Lisbon such a beautiful city?

A first visit to Barreiro
The 1st of May is a holiday in Portugal, as is in many other european countries, so we decided to enjoy our free day with a trip to Barreiro - our first - and visit some good friends. A long awaited day.
We caught the boat in Terreiro do Paço, our friends met us at the pier and the 4 of us had a lovely time visiting the old wind mills, the rowing club, the river beach and had the most delicious tea and scones at their place! A day to repeat.

Treat of the day: Banana-pineapple mousse (a made up recipe for a Sunday evening)
Today I needed a treat so I made up this really easy, delicious and healthy desert:
Here's what you need:
3 ripe bananas
1/2 pineapple
Agar-agar
Cocoa powder
A few peanuts
How to do it:
Use a food processor to turn the fruit into a smooth cream. Transfer to a pan and add 1 heap tea spoon of agar-agar. Let the fruit simmer in médium heat for 20 minutes.
Transfer to individual bowls and sprinkle with the Cocoa powder and crushed peanuts.
Delicious!
